Fund Est. 2002
May 15, 1935 - March 30, 2002
Frank Wellman was born into a small Catholic farming community in Jay Co. Indiana to Jerome (Romey) and Agnes (Kreig) Wellman. Frank grew up on the family farm with his 13 siblings where faith, work, ethics, discipline, and high standards were a lifestyle. He was married to Sharon (Reed) for nearly 42 years, and they had six children: Stan, Mark, Lisa, Jim, Patrick, and Luke.
Frank’s career in education spanned teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent for a combined total of 36 years. Frank served on the Decatur Parks and Recreation Board for 22 years and was involved with the Decatur Baseball Association for more than 28 years. Frank was instrumental in the establishment of the Safety Park where, on an annual basis, hundreds of community children are educated in the course of action to take with traffic and fire safety.
It is hoped that this fund, established to remember Frank's dedication and service to others, will live on by bringing the people of this community together for the purpose of positively influencing our youth and by assisting and motivating other citizens to volunteer and make their own ripple in Adams County.
The Frank Wellman Community Enrichment Fund will be used to provide financial support to non-profit organizations in this community.
