Miss Weidler received her bachelor’s degree from Ball State Teachers’
College at Muncie, Indiana in 1932. She went on to get her master’s
degree in education from IU in Bloomington and her certificate to teach
German from Indiana-Purdue in Fort Wayne. She taught in Adams County for over 40 years and retired in 1973 from Bellmont High School.
What set Miss Weidler apart as a teacher was how she brought new ideas and creativity into her lesson plans. She had an active German club, complete with a constitution and membership pledge that she had written in German.
One scholarship will be awarded each year to a graduating North Adams senior who plans to take German classes in college.
