Dr. and Mrs. Roger Thompson have been Adams County residents for 35 years. Originally from Anderson (Roger) and Kendallville (Nancy), they met at IU in Bloomington where Roger graduated with an A.B. Chemistry degree and Nancy with an A.B. French degree.  Roger continued at Indiana University School of Dentistry where he earned his D.D.S. degree.  Nancy earned her M.Ed from Kansas State University.

Roger and Nancy moved to Adams County in 1972 and have been active community members ever since.  Roger joined a dental practice in 1972 and that group formed Decatur Dental Services (DDS) in 1980.  Additional sites were added to include Geneva (opened in 1985) and Bluffton (in 2002).

After 34 years, Roger retired from full time practice in 2006, but still maintains hours with the DDS one day a week.  Roger also donates his time once a week at Matthew 25, a dental clinic in Ft. Wayne for low-income residents.

Roger is also an active volunteer with the Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) where he has served as a Board member and Board President.  He is a very active volunteer with their church, the First United Methodist Church.

Nancy was a French teacher for 19 years, retiring from North Adams (Bellmont) High School in 2001.  In addition to French, Nancy also taught the Bellmont Service Leadership Class.  Nancy has been actively involved in community volunteerism and leadership having served in numerous positions with their church, First United Methodist Church.

Roger and Nancy have three children:  Anne (Fernandes), Philip, and Emily (Arnold).

The Dr. Roger and Nancy Thompson Community Enrichment Fund will be used to provide financial support to the organizations of their interest in this community.
