Wayne Porter, the fourth child of six (five boys and one girl), is the son of Victor and Kristine Porter. Karen (Darling) Porter, the sixth child of ten (six boys and four girls), is the daughter of Robert & Helen Darling. Married June 10, 1978 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the reception dance floor was at capacity with just their immediate families celebrating this union.
Wayne graduated from Bellmont High School, attended Ball State University his freshman year, then returned home to commute to IPFW and to be closer to his girlfriend, Karen. Wayne graduated from Indiana University with a BS degree in Business Administration.
Karen graduated from Bellmont High School, attended IPFW where she completed her Undergraduate and Masters Degrees from Indiana University for Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement.
The Porters have three children: Adam, Jeremy, Sarah and one grandchild, Carter.
Wayne is Vice President of Sales for Thunderbird, builder of Formula Powerboats. Employed for 30+ years, his responsibilities include managing the Formula Sales Team for both Domestic and International Sales. Karen is a kindergarten teacher at St Joseph School in Decatur. Teaching for nearly 20 years, she enjoys working with this age best. Some of Karen's former students have grown and supported their own families while working with Wayne at Thunderbird.
As an unrestricted fund, the money generated from this fund will be used to serve the various needs of Adams County as determined by the ACCF Board of Directors. Voiced with certainty, Wayne stated, "Because of the strength of the Foundation, we are confident that our Community Enrichment Fund will bless the children of Adams County long after we are gone."
