Pictured: l-r: Dr. Scott Colclasure (representing the Colclasure family) is shown presenting the check to Wylie Sirk, North Adams Superintendent and Coni Mayer, ACCF executive director. With them are several North Adams administrators who will participate in the support of the goals set by this fund which are to provide training for teachers and necessary educational items for students. These are: Neal Rich, principal Southeast Elementary, Kim Fullove, Even Start director, Michele Neumann, Adams Wells CO-OP, and Paula Grimm, Special education teacher.
North Adams Community Schools and the Adams Wells Special Services Cooperative are partnering with the Indiana Resource Center for Autism (IRCA) to provide coaching and training in evidence-based practices in Autism Spectrum disorders. The IRCA will provide training and technical assistance to an autism team at Southeast Elementary School. This early intervention model is designed to provide additional support to students, parents and staff in the implementation of evidence-based practices that support the social-emotional development of our youngest children, especially those with autism.
The North Adams Special Education / Autism Committee plans to organize fundraisers to further grow this fund and heighten awareness of Autism. If you or someone you know, would like to show your support, checks can be sent to: ACCF – NA Special Ed / Autism Fund. Credit card contributions can be accepted through the ACCF new website: www.AdamsCountyFoundation.org. All contributions are fully tax-deductible. Questions can be directed to the ACCF at 724-3939.
