As remembered by daughter and granddaughter, Heidi Lehman, Waldo M. Lehman and his son J Stuart shared a love of cars. The Waldo and Stuart Lehman Scholarship Fund was established to encourage young people who also love cars and want to pursue a career in the automotive industry. Waldo grew up in Berne and began his career at Moser Motors. His father died when he was a little boy, and the men in the shop were family to him. He loved all things with motors, and eventually came to own Maytag Appliances in Berne. His only child, Stuart, was a high school teacher but also spent many years working with his father in the Maytag shop. Father and son loved nothing more than to take off in their truck to deliver washing machines or just drive around. Stuart knew what make of car everyone in town owned, and went for rides every day for the joy of driving.

This tribute, established in their honor, will provide financial support for students like Waldo and Stuart Lehman. Young adults that enjoy working with their hands and love all things with motors especially cars.
