John Anthony Geimer, only son of Virginia and (the late) Raymond ‘Shorty’ Geimer near Pleasant Mills, led a very active and memorable life. Initially attending Pleasant Mills, John graduated from Adams Central in 1966. He was active in band, cross-country, Youth for Christ, and First Missionary Church of Berne.
Keeping his parents in suspense, John engaged his interests in flight and adventure. He did acrobatic air shows flying in his Stearman bi-plane and traveled to Canada and Florida on his Harley. All the while, he maintained his continual upgrades of corvettes. In 1966, John attended Indiana University. As a college student, John was pardoned from the draft, but he voluntarily entered the U.S. Army in 1968 as the United States was at war in Vietnam. As a pilot, John entered training as an aviator where he earned his flight wings.
Sadly, while stationed in Georgia as a flight instructor, John was tragically killed in a car accident on May 6, 1971. This scholarship was established for Adams Central graduating seniors who plan to study music, communications, or US history.
