e the owners and operators of a popular engine shop called Don Auto parts on Second Street in Downtown Decatur, IN. In 1968, they established a trust in their name to sponsor scholarships to graduating seniors from "the Catholic or Decatur High School."
Current Adams County college students (out of high school one or more years) must submit and Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) scholarship application for OnTrack or NonTraditional students (due date in June of each year). After being reviewed by the ACCF Scholarship Committee, multiple students will be considered for this scholarship. Each year students are awarded a scholarship from the generosity of this family. In 2023, ten students were recognized with a Forst Scholarship, and in 2024, ten students were recognized. This generous family has blessed so many with their generous gifting.
To be eligible students should show leadership and initiative qualities, be a North Adams student / alumni, have an above average GPA (2.0+). Priority to students attending a 4yr college and have outstanding college expenses beyond scholarships and grants and other forms of assistance. Well over 200 students have benefited from the Forsts' generosity.
