In Memory of Theo. Heller

The Encore Scholarship was established in loving memory of Theodore S. Heller, son of Roy E. Heller and Lucy (Scherry) Heller.  He was born in Kirkland Township, Adams County, Indiana on December 30, 1908 and died July 31, 2003 having lived within one mile of his birth home all 94 years of his life.

Theodore married Jeanette Irene Spade, and they had two children: Bobby Heller and Carol Jane (Heller)-Longenberger.  This fund was established in honor of Carol’s father by Chester and Carol (Heller) Longenberger. The Longenbergers love the Adams Central school where Carol has been a crosswalk school patrol guard for over 35 years for the town of Monroe.  She also has served Adams Central High school for 20 years with the Sunshine Society as a co-sponsor.  Carol said she loves her community and her father and wanted to do something for both.  This was her way of giving back to those she loves in a way to help her community now and in the future.

Both Carol and Chester Longenberger are active in the field of music serving their church, community and school.  Therefore, they wanted to reward a talented student with this opportunity.  This scholarship is for Adams Central High School seniors who plan to attend college the fall after high school graduation (priority is given to a student majoring in music).

This Encore Scholarship strikes a ‘perfect note’ for this couple!
