Fund Est. 2000
Trooper Cory R. Elson lead a life of love, respect, and honor in his personal and professional life. As a Trooper he abided by his vow to serve and protect and our community is appreciative of his service.
On April 3, 1999 Officer Cory Elson made a seemingly routine traffic stop that turned tragic and fatal. To honor Cory's life the Trooper Cory Elson Scholarship Fund was established through the Adams County Community Foundation in August 2000 by Cory's family, friends, co-workers, and this community. The purpose of this scholarship is to be a yearly reminder of the service and selfless duty Trooper Cory Elson dedicated to this community. To qualify for this scholarship students must complete the ACCF Scholarship application for traditional students and the essay requirement giving personal illustrations of how their life or attitude resembles the following topics: What is community service? how have you participated in community service? How has this community service impacted you?
Since the establishment of this scholarship fund in 2000, one student each year (from one of the three high schools) in Adams County has been awarded a scholarship. That student exemplifies community service in their volunteerism and activities and has interest in a major relating to community service. Students that receive this award should be proud and honored.
