In memory: David Collier
December 12, 1947 - July 6, 2016
David Collier grew up in Decatur, Indiana and was in the insurance business for
over 40 years starting in 1969 while he was still a student at Indiana
University.
Married 47 years, Dave and Sandy (Singleton) met while at Decatur High
School. They graduated from Indiana University where Dave majored in
Business Management and Sandy in Secondary Education, specializing in
Home Economics. They returned to their hometown of Decatur where they
have been stellar community supporters.
Active members of the First United Methodist Church, they have served in
numerous capacities from church officers to key renovation committee
members. In addition, they have been reliable committee members on the Decatur Chamber of Commerce Board, Junior Achievement, Campus Life, American Red Cross, and Love INC. Since 1971, Dave had been a leader with Boy Scouts of America, and dozens of today's Eagle Scouts have referred to his experience and professional advice. Dave was also a Board member with the Adams County Community Foundation where he held several leadership positions.
Dave was the owner of Collier Insurance Agency. He had several employees and provided service to over 2,000 clients. Sandy worked as a Home Economics teacher, an office administrator, and most recently as fundraising chairperson for the 7th Street Depot Restoration and the 'Let Freedom Ring' Decatur Sculpture Tour 2015 People's Choice exhibit.
Committed and proud parents, Dave and Sandy have three children: Jenifer (Schloemer), Kristina (Gerber), and Cameron Collier, and seven grandchildren. These family members will be the decision makers for the David and Sandy Collier Donor-Advised Fund.
