Together, Adams County made this Oncology Facility in Decatur, Indiana possible through the Dreams to Reality Campaign and Pass-Through Fund managed by the Adams County Community Foundation.
Unrestricted Funds create living legacies that grow and change with the community. Distributions from these funds are used for grants to nonprofit organizations serving Adams County, Indiana. This fund allows the greatest flexibly of giving as this grant will provide support to fit the changing needs of the community.
Field of Interest Funds allow donors to support a cause without having to name specific charities. Donors name the fund's purpose, and ACCF identify the projects that can most effectively address the cause. Examples are: In support of: Youth / Education / Historical Preservation / the Arts / Senior Citizens / Health Care, etc.
Scholarship Funds: Companies, organizations, families, and individuals frequently establish scholarship funds. These can be earmarked for students who are graduating from a certain local high school, studying a specific field or pursuing a special major (for example: business / engineering / etc.), attending a given school (for example: donor’s alma mater), or meeting a particular qualifications (for example: student was active in music / community service / a particular sport of club).
Donor Designated Funds: This fund allows the donor the opportunity to name a particular charity or charities to benefit from the gift generated from this fund. The designated charity then benefits from the ACCF pooled investment management capabilities. Plus, donors have the assurance of knowing that if the organization ceases to exist, the Foundation's Board of Directors will preserve the original intent by redirecting the fund to a similar use (for example: the donor’s church / favorite charity or nonprofit organization / adding support to an existing program, etc ).
Donor-Advised Funds provide maximum flexibility by allowing specified donors to make recommendations for distributions to specific charities and may extend over two generations. This is a useful fund for parents to engage and educate their children in the responsibility of giving-back. Each year, the grant generated will provide the family reason for discuss of charitable giving. The receiving charity may change each year as the family interests and involvement shifts. It is also especially useful for donors who want to take a charitable deduction in one year and make recommendations over several years (for more examples, please see ‘Funds’).
Agency Funds are created by nonprofits to provide funding for the future to assist them in carrying on their mission. Through an endowment within the Adams County Community Foundation, a nonprofit seeks to build and secure endowment funds and to receive prudent stewardship of their funds. Although an agency endowment fund can only be established by the nonprofit agency itself, donations by others to these funds are welcome. This is particularly useful for estate planners or funeral directors to offer these options to their clients when discussing directions for charity as these offer ‘power-of-suggestion’ options for the donors. (some example of these: Boys and Girls Club of Adams County, Swiss Heritage Society, Adams County Historical Society, Adams Wells Crisis Center / for more examples, please see ‘Funds’).
Pass-Through Funds are established for specific community needs. These funds are expended when the projects are completed. Contact the Foundation for these forms. (Some example of these: Dreams to Reality – Oncology Facility – building and enhancements / Boy Scout Cabin renovation / one-time scholarships / etc.)
For more examples or for specifics of these types of funds, please access the ‘Funds’ module in this website.
