What more?
Adams County 5K run/walk events directors announces the formation of the Adams County Run/Walk Challenge – a series to promote healthy lifestyles, participation and competition in these annual events.
The Challenge is set up to reward participation and age group placement in the seven races, starting with the Adams/Wells Crisis Center Run Over Violence on April 30 in Decatur. The series also includes the Monroe Lions Club 5K on June 4 at Adams Central High School, the First Bank of Berne Swiss Days Race on July 30 on Jefferson Street in Berne, NEW in 2011: Kekionga Gallop on Sunda, August 28, the Adams Memorial Hospital Catch Your Breath Run on September 11 in Decatur, the Calithumpian Canter on October 30 at Bellmont High School, and the Rainbow Lake 5K on November 26 in Geneva.
Runners and walkers will receive seven points for their participation in each of the six events as well as points based upon their finish in one of 11 age groups. Participants must complete four of the six events to be eligible for awards. The Challenge awards will be presented following the post-race festivities at the Rainbow Lake 5K in November. Runners and walkers may pre-register for the Challenge prior to the first event by submitting a registration form along with the $95 series fee. The series fee covers registration to all six events (including shirts from each) and a moisture management T-shirt from the Challenge. Runners entering the Challenge will automatically be pre-registered for all races remaining on the series schedule (the entry fee will be adjusted depending on when the entry is submitted). The Challenge is limited to the first 50 entries.
Entries are currently being accepted at the Worthman Fitness Center at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, the branch office of the First Bank of Berne in Berne, and at the first three events on the Challenge schedule. Entry forms are also available through the Adams County Community Foundation website at www.AdamsCountyFoundation.org. Race and series results will also be posted on the ACCF website. Participation is open to anyone wanting to compete and is not limited to residents of Adams County. For further details, please contact Barry Humble at (260) 724-5368 or any of the six race directors. |
