Mr. Detter was born in Ohio and was a student at Bowling Green University before heading off to war in March of 1943.
Mrs. Detter was born in Ohio and graduated from Ohio State University as well. She retired in 1973 after a 31-year career as an elementary teacher.
In 1947, the couple moved to Decatur where Mr. Detter worked with Met Life, and Mrs. Detter taught elementary students and art.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Detter were active in Adams County and our community. They wanted to insure that their support of the community who gave them such pleasure was provided assistance long after their death.
In their memory, an annual scholarship is awarded to a North Adams graduating senior.
