Bixler, Herman Memorial Fund (Scholarship)

Herman "Bix" Bixler was born and raised in Hartford Township.  He graduated from Geneva High School in 1941.

After high school, he joined the Navy and served on the submarine USS Pampanito in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

After the war he worked in the Pfennig Insurance Agency in Geneva, buying the agency in 1952.  He expanded the business and now there are offices in Berne and Portland in addition to the office in Geneva.

Bix was an avid lover of golf.  He was one of the leaders to develop the Wabash Valley Golf Course in Geneva, Indiana.
Bix and Betty have one daughter Susan, who is married to Russ Flueckiger.  There are two grandsons, John and Andrew Flueckiger.
