Est. 2000
Located on the corners of Fifth and Monroe Streets in Decatur, the Historical Museum features many artifacts of the history of Adams County. Recognizing the need to establish sustainability for the future, the local Adams County Historical Society secured an endowment in the ACCF. Opening the fund in 2000 the fund grew through the ACCF’s ‘Taking Stock’ program and the Foundation's other fund-growing programs. The all-volunteer Historical Society has gotten some ‘celebrity support’ in 2003 and 2004 from Dr. Beall and his wife. Dr. Beall’s family is from the Midwest and he enjoys sharing his father’s and families’ historical memoirs. His contributions to the historical society for the upkeep of the Adams County Museum have come at a time when they are in most need of assistance.
If you are in a position to help out the historical society either as a volunteer or financially, you may contact the museum (260-724-3493)
